Don Rigsby & Midnight Call headlines Song of the Mountains taping October 4th in Marion, VA for PBS
Award winning bluegrass artist Don Rigsby and his band Midnight Call will headline the October 4th PBS taping of Song of the Mountains at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Virginia. Rigsby is not only a veteran musician in bluegrass but also is the director of the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music in the “Bluegrass State”. Also on the show on October 4th is Raymond McLain and Mike Stevens. Raymond is not only a veteran of bluegrass music performing over the past 4 decades with the likes of the McLain Family Band, Jim & Jesse and others, he is also currently director of the Bluegrass and Old Time and Country Music Program at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. Mike Stevens is from Ontario, Canada and is one of the most talented and energetic harmonica players in the world today. McLain and Stevens will be making their second appearance on Song of the Mountains. They both have performed many times on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN and travel extensively in the United States and abroad.
The Song of the Mountains PBS taping October 4th also showcases the Celtic music of Sigean who are from the Tri-Cities region of east Tennessee and southwestern Virginia. Also on the show are the bluegrass bands Tommy Freeman and Tennessee Skyline from Surgoinsville, Tennessee and Bluegrass and Beyond from Fort Chiswell, Virginia. *Talent lineup for Song of the Mountains live concerts subject to change
